My students are encouraged to experience the German language and the cultures of German-speaking countries outside of the classroom. GAPP (German American Partnership Program) is a non-profit high school exchange program between schools in Germany and the United States, sponsored by the German Foreign Office and by the US Department of State. In 2006, 2010, and 2012, I accompanied groups of students from Westchester and Stratford on a four-week exchange trip to Germany including a three-week stay with German partners and their families in our partner city Ganderkesee. The next exchange trip is planned for June 2014.
