I am beginning my 23rd year of teaching!  I came to Spring Branch in 2001 after teaching special ed resource and Montessori in Aldine ISD.  In Spring Branch, I have taught second, fourth, and kindergarten.  I was also a School Improvement Specialist for four years.  I look forward to working with sixth graders!

I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but I have also lived in Mississippi and in England.  My family has always traveled, and I hope I can share some of my curiosity about our world with my students.  They already know that I love football and car racing!

Please know that I am here to work with families as we support students in having a great 6th grade year.  Feel free to email with any questions or concerns you might have.  I will make every effort to answer within 24 hours.  Let's have a great year!

This class integrates language arts and world cultures.  We use a project based approach to explore how various cultures and geographical features help shape our world.  The students, as self-determining learners and problem solvers, will read both short text and novels that are rich with examples of culture.  Research and written responses will support student learning about our diverse world as well as build written communication skills.

We are working on writing memoirs.  The memoir assignment is due Friday, May 17 at the beginning of class.  It will count as two test grades:  one for content and the other for style and mechanics.  The rubrics are in the documents section below.  Papers can be either typed or neatly handwritten, and students must write at least 350 words.

Last book order for the year!  All orders are due by Monday, May 20.  The online ordering code is L2ZZB.

The semester final exam will be on Friday, May 31 in the morning.

TUTORIALS ARE OFFERED ON THURSDAYS .  Tutorials last from 3:10-4:15.  Late buses are available.

If you would like to come in and work during lunch time to have some quiet work time, please ask.  This option is usually available with a day's notice.  Remember to ask me for a pass so that you can leave the cafeteria!

There may be adjustments to the homework assignments and due dates. Please follow the agenda!

Agendas, reading logs, and reading log books are to be brought to class every day!
