Houston World Affairs Council Academic Worldquest Competition!

This will occur toward the end of February 2010

We are looking for team members!  Please see Ms. Harelson in Room E133 to sign up.

WHAT... a competition among Houston area schools.  We form a team of up to 10 students.  Each school is allowed to take TWO teams.  The competition is an international "trivial pursuit."  We need students knowledgeable about geography, world leaders, science, economy, international organizations, current events... The team works together to answer the questions at the competition.  There is also a team costume competition.  The focus at last year's competition was on events that occurred during the previous 12 months in the various categories.

WHERE...

WHEN...   the competition is after school,  from 3:30 pm to 7 pm...  we will leave from school at 3 pm

WHY... it's fun, you can show off your knowledge of global affairs, and, IF ONE OF THE WAIS TEAMS WINS, Houston World Affairs Council pays for the winning team to compete in the National Academic Worldquest competition in Washington, DC.

HOW... to participate, sign up with Ms. Harelson.  We will form teams during the first semester.  The members are dividing up the topics that need to be reviewed for the competition.

WHO... students in grades 9 - 12
