My name is Bruce Madison and I am the special ed. monitor teacher for
grades 11, and 12 at Westchester.
I've
been a teacher in Spring Branch for seventeen years. I received
a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Houston and spent the next
twenty years in sales and management. Sometime during my business
career, I realized that I wanted to "give something back" to the world and
decided to become a teacher. I went through one of the first
Alternative Certification programs here in Houston and became certified in
generic Special Ed. for grades K-12. Since then, I have added three
additional certifications. My first job was teaching resource at
Thornwood Elementary. During this time I earned an M. Ed. from the
University of St. Thomas. When Mrs. Butler offered me the
opportunity to be one of the original faculty members at Westchester, I
jumped at the chance. It has allowed me to incorporate my love of
travel (I've been to many European countries as well as China, Russia and
Vietnam) with teaching. In addition to my duties here, I am also a
part time instructor in the Alternative Certification at Region IV.
This program helped me become the teacher I am today and I feel a real
need to help other people who wish to become teachers. My
educational philosophy is that all children can learn, but not necessarily
on the same day or in the same way. You can contact me at
