Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) is celebrating key milestones in two major construction projects funded by the 2022 Bond Program: the replacement of the Guthrie Center and the renovation of the SBISD Agricultural Science Center.
Both projects are currently in the construction phase, with substantial work already completed.
Guthrie Center Replacement Project:
The Guthrie Center is being replaced with a new, modern facility. Under the leadership of Project Manager Geoff Bay, the district is making excellent progress on the project, which was designed by PBK Architects and is being built by Durotech.
-
Site Preparation and Foundation: The site preparation work has been completed, and the foundation for the new building is in place.
-
Concrete Masonry Walls: The load-bearing concrete masonry walls have been erected, helping to provide structural support for the new building.
-
Tilt-Wall Installation: Tilt-wall installation is also underway, with insulation being added to the constructed tilt-wall panels. This work is a key part of creating the building's exterior shell and will contribute to the facility’s energy efficiency.
SBISD Agricultural Science Center Renovation:
At the SBISD Agricultural Science Center, the district is focused on modernizing the facilities to enhance the learning environment for students in the district's agricultural sciences program. The addition and renovation work is being managed by Project Manager Alfonso Montoya, with Stantec serving as the Architect/Engineer and Marshall Construction as the contractor.
-
Main Entry and Parking: The main entry has been completely replaced, and the parking area has been paved, providing better access to the site and improving safety and traffic flow.
-
Detention Pond: Construction of a detention pond is currently in progress, an essential component for managing stormwater on the property.
-
Animal Barns: The animal barns are under construction, with foundation and rebar placed. This construction work is crucial for providing students with updated facilities to house and care for animals.
-
Temporary Buildings: In addition, temporary buildings have been erected onsite to support operations as construction continues. These structures ensure that the agricultural programs can continue without interruption during the addition and renovation process.
Looking Ahead:
Both projects are progressing on schedule, with SBISD committed to creating modern, functional, and safe facilities for its students and staff. The Guthrie Center and Agricultural Science Center are key components of the district’s investment in Career and Technical Education (CTE), ensuring that students have access to the best possible learning environments.
The Guthrie Center and Agricultural Science Center, along with other projects across the district, are integral to SBISD’s continued investment in CTE spaces that support SBISD’s T-2-4 Vision and student success.
